Rules and Regulations
The Sterling Cemetery Association believes that every lot owner has an interest in ensuring that everything possible is done to preserve the beauty, dignity, and sacredness of the cemetery for generations to come. To achieve this goal, certain rules and regulations have been established and must be consistently enforced. These guidelines help protect the long-term care, appearance, and integrity of the cemetery, as deviations could compromise its beauty and perpetual maintenance.
We trust that lot owners, families, and friends will understand that these rules are intended for the benefit and protection of all and will cooperate in honoring them.

Primary Rules
Lots shall be kept in a manner that will allow a mowing machine to pass over the grounds in order to keep the grass in the cemetery mowed during the months of April, May, June, July, August, September, and October of each year.
Artificial or natural flowers and wreaths not placed on the headstone or vases connect to the headstone will not be permitted on the lot during this time, EXCEPT: Five (5) days before and ten (10) days after Memorial Day of each year.
Concrete, brick or other types of borders or markers (except headstones), will be constructed in such a manner that the border or markers will not extend above ground level.
Planting of trees and shrubbery is not permitted.
Flowers, wreaths, and sprays will be removed from the lot within ten (10) days after interment.
At the owner’s own risk, solar lights are allowed to be placed next to the head monument in a manner that won’t impede the mowing machine. The cemetery is not responsible if the lights are broken during the mowing or weed-eating of the cemetery.
Items not allowed to be placed on a lot within the Cemetery include, but are not limited to, the following: shepherd’s hooks, stand-up decorations, coping, curbing, decorative rocks, fencing, hedging, grave mounds, benches, borders or enclosures.
